Despite many tries, asking the record company EMI, which has provided this prize from the video "19-2000" in cooperation with MTV, to send out the papers nothing happened so far. "Everytime they propose, but nothing happens", Tauer's complaining. The whole drama started when he had to pickup the Geep on his own expenses in Berlin. "Without papers, the car is useless to me", stated Tauer. The 28-year old would like to drive this re-built VW Buggy on a rally. Additionally he would like to rent or sell the car from the Band which became famous with their hit "Clint Eastwood".
Now, the Geep is located in a garage of Tauer's father in Nordholz. On his homepage (www.gorillaz-geep.com) Tauer merchandises his prize. "Approximately 2000 fans from all over the world have sent an eMail to me, offering assistance in the fight against the commercialized record-business", says Tauer.
Bernd Harbauer, Product-Manager of the Gorillaz at EMI is sorry about that Martin Tauer is still waiting for the Papers. "We've had the Geep for a promotion in London. Then it came back, but without papers", explains Harbauer the fact, that the car has been offered without papers and/or license plates. He has ordered new papers at the Traffic Authority last year, but he didn't received any answer. It's an "administration-scenario", says Harbauer. But when Tauer would like to takeover and try to get new papers on his own, he would be "super-thankful".
To get the papers, Tauer has to make a request at the German National Traffic Authority in Flensburg, recommends Günther Herz from the Traffic Authority in Bremerhaven. "They will check if the car was already registered in Germany before and they will do the rest. The request form needed for that procedure can be obtained from us." But to initiate that, Tauer needs a certification that he's the real owner of the car. Bernd Harbauer wanted to provide him this certificate just after talking to the NORDSEE-ZEITUNG: "He is the owner, that's clear. He will receive a certificate from us." For the time being, Tauer hasn't received mail from the EMI. "If it stays that way I wouldn't dare to take legal steps" says the winner.
