The Gorillaz are a pop-phenomenon, almost everybody knows them. Especially since their smash-hits "Clint Eastwood" and "19-2000" they were known to a wider range of audience. Even in Germany, there is a fastly-growing fan-community.

One of the most different things compared to other pop-groups - while talking over the Gorillaz - is the fact that they're some kind of a "virtual" pop-group: All released videos so far depicted them in a very unique comic-style. One of their trademarks is surely the Geep, the superstar of the 19-2000 video.

The Geep was the big prize during an Internet prize draw, which took place this year at MTV (in cooperation with EMI). The lucky winner was taken out of over 55.000 correct transmittals from all over Europe.

On the evening of July, 17th 2002 MTV London called me and told me about my prize and that I'm supposed to be the new owner of the original Gorillaz-Geep. In the meantime, I didn't see my prize at all. But they told me that I will receive it at the MTV Select show on September, 9th 2002 in Berlin.

Shortbooks - der Infoservice

You can easily have good luck at prize-draws: I have tried Shortwin.de, a new kind of service that enters you in many different and interesting prize-draws in the Internet. You don't have to fill-in every single one, they'll do it for you! Simply fill-out the request-formular.

At first I also had my doubts about this offer, because the offer sounded very interesting and by taking the price into account it seemed to be unbelievable cheap. So I took the time to apply for a trial-membership for 3 months. The service is outstanding! A big prize within the first month of my membership is prove enough. And all that is available from only £ 5.04 up for the trial-membership.

More information on the Geep

It's not very easy to say that, but obviously EMI didn't give that much care to the Geep. Much work has to be done to let it roll on the streets with proper licensing-plates. In it's current state, the car is nothing more than a "very (mis)used" one. I hope EMI treats the Gorillaz a bit better than the Geep.

Photos will arrive soon.

The car's battery has been exchanged, it was damaged as well as the handbrake. I really feel like a scrapyard-owner with this car! Now I know, why the EMI was so keen on having it given away as a "prize".

(To be continued...)

No papers have arrived so far!

There's one thing to tell about the EMI, all those guys have quite a lot of time! Since I received the information about winning the Geep in July 2002, they haven't managed to provide me some papers for the car! In the beginning the papers were to supposed to be "somewhere" in UK, after that they were declared as "lost". In the meantime I was promised more than once that I will receive new papers, but nothing happened. The last promise was given when the responsible guy from the administration in Flensburg was on his christmas holidays.

So, christmas has passed and since that - nothing happened again! Is the EMI short on money for paying postage for the papers because of thei billion-dollar deal with Robbie Williams? Or are they all busy in distributing the money they have received from "Germany is looking for the Superstar"?

I think it's a deal for the lawyers...
